Volunteer of the Month: October

Jean Wehr.jpg

Our latest Volunteer of the Month is Jean Wehr.  Jean is a familiar face around Washington, having been born and raised here. Her husband, Randy, works for Syngenta Seeds here in Washington, plus farms part time.  Their daughter, Nicole Stoutner and her husband, Pat and their 2 children live here in Washington, and daughter, Erin McGuire and her husband, Andy and 2 ½ children live in Keota.

Due to the recent merger of West Chester Savings Bank into Central Bancshares, Inc. of Muscatine, Iowa, Jean is now dividing her time between Washington and Muscatine as Bankway Specialist.

Jean was asked to represent the Chamber of Commerce on the Revitalization Committee before Washington became an official Main Street community.  She has been a member of the Main Street Washington Organization Committee for 5 years.  She has served on the Main Street Board of Directors as Secretary, Vice President and President and is currently serving on the Board as the Past President.  Jean has been involved with the Patron Party, fund raising and has volunteered time for Celebrate and SNOW. For her service she was recently honored with a Governor’s Award for Volunteerism after being nominated by Thom Guzman, Director of the Iowa Downtown Resource Center and long-time friend of Main Street Washington.

Congratulations and Thank You to Jean for being one of those volunteers who goes above and beyond.
